Why are you running? Are you each (or is it both?) holding a grudge against someone in the township you hope to resolve by becoming a supervisor?
Rich, since you were not able to have Barry resolve your issues with the WVT police when he was a supervisor, are you thinking you'll do better yourself? If that's the case, why not campaign on your own? Or is this like two years ago: Barry does all the talking and just points to you as the candidate?
Maria, are you thinking you can change the zoning to resolve your issues with your neighbor? Isn't it enough that you put both your neighbor and the taxpayers of West Vincent through great expense to confirm that they were doing business as permitted? Do you want to spend more of our tax money tearing down our ordinances and compromising the quality of life in our community? It can't be because you care about how the township funds are spent, or you would not be abusing the system, not paying your debts. Do you want the rest of us to pay it for you? Is that why you’re running? Is that fair?
For both: what is your political party this election?

Here we go again!
It's only a rumor, but this is what I've heard:
Barry has encouraged Rich and Maria, who lost the Republican primary election in May, to run as write ins in November. Let me know if you've seen any evidence of this first hand. It would be good to know the Truth for West Vincent.

West Vincent Supervisor Campaign 2011
Here we are again, only this time Rich is running as a Republican again. What happened to that switch to Independent of two years ago?
Other than Rich coming back again as a Republican (remember he was a Republican until he lost the primary in 2009, then he ran as an Independent), there are a lot of new faces on the scene. Zoe, a several term incumbant is not running for reelection; Clare, who was appointed by the supervisors to fill the vacancy created when a Chester County judge removed Barry from office, is running for the 2-year term.
The new faces are:
Republicans, David Brown (6 yr term) against the above-mentioned Rich Malasics
Kit Trolier (2 yr term) against Maria Holderness
Democrats: John Eldridge (6 yr term) against Jeff Hester
Clare Quinn (2 yr term) against Jeff (yes, he's running for both terms)
Clare is an incumbant supervisor who brings experience, perspective, and expertise to the job. David, John, and Kit aren't new to the township or to helping preserve the quality of life we enjoy here. They have all been engaged in one way or another, as volunteers, working for their friends and neighbors in West Vincent. I don't believe that Rich, Maria, or Jeff can say the same; it seems they come to Supervisor meetings only and come with pre-planned issues targeted at specific people in the meeting. I wish they were presenting constructive criticism and stepped up to help make the changes they say we need. My second wish would be that they were free agents, unencumbered by petty complaints against their neighbors, and self confident enough to do their own thinking.
Ask all 7 candidates how they have been involved in West Vincent up to now, and what they know about the real issues we face. I hope you get the Truth. Then vote for the future of our township on May 17th.

here's another funny thing
funny as in peculiar, ironic, not comical...
Rich, newly an Independent for this election, has criticized a Democrat for serving on Ken's re-election committee. He says he's tired of party politics, and then, perhaps from the other side of his mouth, engages in exactly that.
It would be funny if this election weren't so important. It's about West Vincent's future. The fact that Ken attracts support from people of different politics from across the township seems to offend Rich. To me, it’s another Truth for West Vincent.
Ken is a good man, who deserves our support, because he doesn’t care about our politics when he does his job—he just cares that he’s doing the best he can for West Vincent. And that’s the Truth.

Elevating another comment from "First" - Rich & Barry's Private War
this was posted as a comment
Why in the world did Rich let himself get dragged into Barry's private war against the township? This will only end badly for both of them.
For anyone who does not know this already, Barry is Rich's campaign manager. Same signs, same smear tactics, same goofy attacks on one of the best township governments in Chester County.

Sent to me to Post - from One Neighbor
As a concerned neighbor, citizen and friend I’m really starting to dislike politics. All I ask for is honesty, truth and know-how in the candidate I select. And, what I ask of my neighbors is to seek out that honesty, truth and know-how in the candidate they select. Don’t believe hear-say, check the facts. It may take a little more energy and may not be as much fun, but you’ll feel better about your vote. You’ll be an informed citizen whose vote definitely counts. See you at the polls!
