Elevating another comment from "First" - Rich & Barry's Private War

this was posted as a comment

Why in the world did Rich let himself get dragged into Barry's private war against the township? This will only end badly for both of them.

For anyone who does not know this already, Barry is Rich's campaign manager. Same signs, same smear tactics, same goofy attacks on one of the best township governments in Chester County.

Sent to me to Post - from One Neighbor

As a concerned neighbor, citizen and friend I’m really starting to dislike politics. All I ask for is honesty, truth and know-how in the candidate I select. And, what I ask of my neighbors is to seek out that honesty, truth and know-how in the candidate they select. Don’t believe hear-say, check the facts. It may take a little more energy and may not be as much fun, but you’ll feel better about your vote. You’ll be an informed citizen whose vote definitely counts. See you at the polls!

Just like Barry

On his website, Rich said: "I am running as an Independent. After my experience observing the manipulation of the Republican Committee of West Vincent, I have decided that perhaps locally, the representatives of the Republican Party are lacking ethics."

Instead of bothering to understand the facts or work within the party to make a difference, he bails out. Is that what you want in a Supervisor? Is that ethical?

He did very well running as a Republican in May, just not well enough to win the party place on the ticket. The event he is criticizing, the endorsement of Ken by the Republican party, happened last winter. It's not a new story. Rich talked about it on his website before the primary and his supporter Jim Martin used it on his negative site, too.

The Truth for West Vincent is that the Republican party meeting in which Ken was endorsed had been announced publically at a Township meeting when the meeting room use was requested. There is no requirement for the meeting to be announced at all, as long as all of the elected members know about it, and they obviously did since they gave Ken their unanimous endorsement.

The use of “lacking ethics” is just an expression of sour grapes. It’s simply twisting the story to slur people doing the right thing in the right manner.

Where did he learn that that was the way we want our elected officials to act? Did he get the wrong lesson from his mentor? Why do they think we like being lied to?

What's going on?

Why does someone who has not been involved in any Township committees nor done any volunteer work for the Township feel prepared to serve as Supervisor? For almost two years we've had a new participant trying to get up to speed to be effective in his role. He at least claimed experience gained by watching his father be Supervisor in Upper Uwchlan, but one could wonder if that was what caused him to be so cavalier with the truth of his residency—thinking that living next door in his childhood qualified him as a resident to run for office.

We can’t afford the learning curve. DiLibero has been watching and waiting and not stepping up to the job. We don’t need a second Supervisor cut of that same cloth. The newly announced “Independent” candidate Malasics has all the earmarks of being a DiLibero clone. In May, when asked to present his accusations directly to Miller’s face in public, he refused. He put on a show of replying, but would not take any direct questions. Makes one wonder how open and communicative he’d been on the job.

In the clone department we have:
• Both holding forth from the bully pulpits of their work space
• Both casting aspersions to any and all who enter
• Both sparing the truth, with the attitude expressed so well in the cliché: my mind is made up, don’t confuse me with the facts
• Neither taking time to participate in the Township before running
• Neither interested in the whole township, just focusing on the new people and the subdivisions where they can have the most contact with the least commitment
• Neither being able to articulate how they can make a difference. They say it’s time for a change, but can’t tell us what change beyond replacing a very experienced, informed, thoughtful, caring Supervisor with another new, shoot-from-the-hip, uninformed guy
• Both slandering the Township government from their bully pulpits, but not raising the issues in public meetings where we might learn the Truth for West Vincent

Have you noticed Malasics doesn’t really have an opinion or answer until he checks with DiLibero? Maybe he's not a clone at all, just a puppet.

Comment from BornintheUSA

This is in a comment, but I decided to more it up to the level of a post to make it easier to find.

Here's the comment:

Rich ran a negative campaign in the Spring. He has limited knowledge of the facts and presented outright lies about West Vincent government to the voters he visited. I know because I am one of them. I have lived in West Vincent for many years and I happen to like it here. The rural integrity of the township has been preserved despite the tremendous development pressure of the past 20 years. Our township taxes are a real value for the services we receive. Our roads are in great shape. West Vincent government is open. Township supervisors have always encouraged residents be a part of the process. Just the other week, Ken Miller and Zoe Perkins commended the 90 plus township residents who took time from their busy lives to be a part of the Community Conversation meeting held at the township building. Ken and Zoe are easily accessible. If you don't catch Zoe at home, you'll surely pass her while she is walking on the roads. I have stopped at Ken's farm to discuss township issues many times over the years. He is always available and if he's not there, his wife or sons will tell you where to find him. Even though I may not always agree with Ken, he is always willing to listen and share his thoughts. Would Rich do the same? I think not! In an open forum this spring, he refused to answer questions from concerned residents. Is that open? If I hear something from Rich that sounds suspicious, I will not take his work for it. He has proven himself untrustworthy. Remember his lie about the police?
